He enjoyed spending time with his family at social functions and holiday events. After retirement Ed enjoyed being a transport driver for Lonestar Chevrolet. Ed worked in oil field services at Baker Oil Tools for over 25 years. He went to school at Round Top Carmine High School and then eventually moved to Houston. “Ed” was born in Carmine, Texas to Gustav and Ella Arndt on January 23, 1938. Arndt, age 84, of Carmine and Houston, Texas, passed away on Octoin Houston, Texas. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity. A graveside service will be held at the Carmine Cemetery on Novemat 11:00am. He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Waldemar (Jack) Schramm (Betty Schramm), Doris Jean Gebhardt (Chester Gebhardt), Maydelle Copeland (Clarence Copeland), Larry Levien (Linda Levien), Ronnie Jahnz (Jo Jahnz), Floyd Arndt (Linda Arndt), Walter Arndt (Betty Arndt), Steven Arndt (Renee Arndt), Brian Arndt (Yvonne Arndt), Laura Taylor (John Taylor), Karen Fishbeck (Russell Fishbeck), Leisa Funck, Renee Richardson (Brad Richardson), Leah Stevens (Andrew Stevens), Kane Prestwood and over 30 great nieces/ nephews and numerous great-great nieces/ nephews. Ed is survived by his 101-year-old sister Flora Jahnz of LaGrange, sister Mary Ann Prestwood (John Prestwood) of Sugar Land and sister-in-law Maxine Arndt of Houston. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Clarence Arndt, Floyd Arndt (Annette Arndt), Harry Arndt, and Gus Arndt (Margaret Arndt) and his sisters: Mabel Schramm (Waldemar Schramm), Lenora Jahnz (Herbert Jahnz), Ella Mae Levien (Hershel), Vera Hudgins (Bob Hudgins) and brother-in-law Paul Jahnz (husband of Flora Jahnz). He also loved his almost daily visits to LaMadeline and Panera Bread for breakfast and lunch. Sports were also important to Ed and he loved to visit about all Houston Teams and especially enjoyed attending the University of Houston Cougars men’s basketball games at Del Mar Stadium. Hunting and fishing with his nephews were one of his favorite pastimes.
